Methylphenidate
Methylphenidate (e.g., Ritalin, Concerta) blocks dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake and is a first-line, evidence-based treatment for ADHD, improving attention and impulse control. Risks include appetite suppression, insomnia, elevated heart rate and blood pressure, and misuse potential. Benefits are well established when prescribed and monitored; non-prescribed use carries the risks without the oversight.
