Mucuna pruriens
Mucuna pruriens is a legume naturally rich in L-DOPA, the precursor to dopamine. It has been studied as a natural source of levodopa in Parkinson’s disease, where it can raise dopamine and improve motor symptoms. Because it delivers real L-DOPA, it carries levodopa-like risks (nausea, dyskinesia, blood-pressure effects) and product standardization is inconsistent, so it is not a benign supplement.
