Tyrosine
⤢ 3D
Tyrosine is an amino acid precursor to the catecholamines dopamine and norepinephrine. The most consistent evidence is that it can buffer cognitive performance under acute stressors such as sleep deprivation or cold, when catecholamines are depleted; benefits in rested, unstressed people are minimal. It is generally well tolerated.
Too little may be associated with
Low catecholamine synthesis under stress.
Too much may be associated with
Overstimulation; caution with thyroid conditions or MAOIs.
