Taurine is an amino acid with roles in neuronal signaling, calcium handling, and antioxidant defense, and it is a common energy-drink ingredient. Despite widespread claims, evidence that supplemental taurine meaningfully improves cognition, mood, or athletic performance in healthy people is weak. It appears safe at commonly used doses.
